Administer the State General Assistance Program for adults without children.
Provide assistance/counseling to residents who are in danger of eviction, or may be in danger of having their utilities shut off.
Counsel residents on benefits available to them in their time of need.
Assistance in emergencies, i.e. prescriptions, transportation, shelter, food, and clothing. Provide aid to transients.
We have a food pantry/clothing closet at 550 Edison Street. Supplies come from residents, churches, businesses, and organizations.
We represent the Salvation Army in this area and as such can draw food from the Central Food Bank of New Jersey and receive grants from ShopRite's “Partners in Sharing” program and other agencies.
Provide food baskets for families in need at Thanksgiving and Christmas. In addition, we supply gifts for needy children at holiday time.
Relocation assistance for residents who are displaced because of the action of the Borough or State.
