Take Pride in your Community by making Ridgefield Clean and Green!
The 4th Annual Clean Up Day was a success despite being held on the rain date! 53 bags of trash and 46 bags of recyclables were collected. Thanks to the 125 individuals that participated from the following groups: students from Slocum Skewes School and the school's Environmental and Robotics Clubs; RMHS; Girls Scouts; Zion Lutheran Church; Senior Citizens; Police Department; D.P.W.
7TH ANNUAL “WHAT EARTH MEANS TO ME” POSTER CONTEST:
Third grade students from Slocum Skewes School will be invited to participate in the contest. One winning poster from each of the five classes will be selected by the Commission. Each winner will receive a $25 Barnes & Noble gift certificate at the April 28th Mayor and Council meeting. The posters will be displayed for one month at the Ridgefield Public Library.
“SENIOR WALK FOR YOUR HEALTH DAY”: On Wednesday, April 16th the Ridgefield Nature Center will be opened to the public from 10 AM to 1 PM. Senior Citizens and other members of the public are invited to tour the Nature Center and walk the trails and perimeter for their health and to enjoy the natural beauty of the area. The benefits of walking are well documented. All you need is a good pair of walking shoes!
SPRING PROJECTS: The Commission needs volunteers to help remove invasive plants and vines in the Nature Center and the Community Gardens area.
