Yard Waste Pick UP

Automatic yard waste pick up begins on Tuesday, April 21 (Shaler & the west side of town) and Thursday, April Auto23. Grass & yard waste must be put in barrels or PAPER bags. Branches must be cut (no longer than 5 ft.) & tied in bundles, or placed in barrels. Yard waste CAN NOT be put in plastic bags.Added on April 9, 2009. Deletion date May 4, 2009

March 2009 Citizen's Police Report

During the month of April 2009 the Ridgefield Police Department responded to 1389 calls for service. In addition, officers issued 689 motor vehicle summonses and 443 warnings. For a current list of monthly statistics, The Ridgefield Police would like to remind all residents to obey all traffic laws. Lets keep Ridgefield a safe place to live Report any suspicious activity. Please remember to lock your vehicles and remove all valuables from them. IMPORTANT NOTICE; whenever someone comes to your home claiming that they are a representative of a particular company i.e. PSE&G, UNITED WATER, etc. or claim they are there to read your meter, ASK FOR IDENTIFICATION** Do not allow anyone entry into your home unless you are absolutely positive they are who they say they are, call the company direct or IF IN DOUBT CALL THE POLICE.

Six hundred spectators from Ridgefield Recreation Summer Camp, as well as the School's Summer Program, got the thrill of watching a U.S. Coast Guard helicopter land on Veteran's Field the morning of July 11.

    July 14, 2009 , Free Skin Cancer Screening will be held on Tuesday, July 14, 2009 from 9:00AM to 11:00AM at the Ridgefield Health Department 725 Slocum Ave. The screening will be performed by Dr. Monika Srivastava. Appointments are necessary. Please call (201) 943 - 6062 to schedule an appointment.

    The Ridgefield Summer Music Program will take place this summer operating Mondays thru Thursdays beginning July 1st and concluding July 30th. This program is designed to help students develop and improve their instrumental music skills. Students that will be entering the fourth grade in September as well as advanced elementary, middle school and high school students are eligible to attend the program. Students will be placed in small lesson groups based on their grade level and musical experience.

    Information brochures are available in the main office at the Slocum Skewes School and in the Ridgefield Memorial High School main office. For further information please call the music department office at 201-945-4455 ext. 270.

    26th Annual Torch Run

    torch-run2.jpg On June 12, 2009 members of the Ridgefield Police Department participated in the 26th Annual Torch Run for Special Olympics. The Ridgefield Police Department liaison to Special Olympics is Officer Robert Katz. Fundraising is ongoing. To date the Ridgefield Police Department has raised over $10,000 to benefit Special Olympic Competitions throughout the State of New Jersey.

    Cellular Phone Use While Driving is Now a Primary Offense

    Effective March 1st, 2008, the use of wireless hand-held telephones and electronic communication devices by the operator of a moving vehicle is a primary offense in New Jersey. This means that you can be pulled over and issued a ticket by a police officer for talking on your cellular phone or text/electronic messaging with a phone or PDA.
